Malcolm Dixon, (Far Left) our Pastor, Dr. Dartanya G. Hill, Sr., and Dr. Ron Robinson (Far Right), are excellent Preacher’s, and Teacher’s of the Word of God!

The Bible says to Study to show thyself approved, and that is exactly what they do!

Homelessness in our City is at a Crisis Level

Dear Friends:

The West End Baptist Church has been addressing this problem for 30 years.  We are devoted to feeding the homeless and hungry a hot, healthy and hearty breakfast every Saturday morning.

Over the years many churches and volunteers have supported this ministry with donations and volunteer service.  Some of the essential food is provided by Dare to Care and West End supports the ministry generously.

We are appealing for generous support for the renovation and expansion of the basement area that serves that population. The current space is too small.  The stoves that are used are worn out. The kitchen is small for the workers needed to prepare for an average of 150 persons.  The storage is inconveniently located from the preparation area making serving this number of persons very difficult.

Some work has been done framing and dry walling the expansion area and an Architect has rendered drawings for the needed expansion voluntarily.

Because of separation of Church and State laws we have exhausted our search from grants from City, State and Federal programs.  We are appealing to the concerned and compassionate to help us with this $40,000 project.  No contribution is too large or too small.  Progress toward the project goal will be provided monthly.

The need is urgent and your support is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Dartanya G. Hill, Sr.

Kitchen Project Update - February 2021

The kitchen project is coming along nicely. I would say that by the end of today, we will have finished the roughed-in stage. As we had hoped, we have had a strong group of volunteers helping us along the way. Charles White of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship with his son and others did all of the framing. Lawrence Lewis led the volunteers during the drywall installation. Finally, we could not have done it without the consistent group of volunteers from West End Baptist who worked almost every Saturday for three months to keep the project moving. We have worked hard and enjoyed the fellowship.

The subtractors, including Mark Quire Plumbing, Abtech Electric, and Gettler Sheet Metal, have also done an excellent job for the church. We will have the plumbing roughed-in, the electric roughed-in, the drywall installed, and the hood installed by the end of today. Today is a milestone day.

This project’s original budget was $95,293, 78,063 labor and material plus 17,230 for permits and professional fees. The volunteer’s efforts have saved WEBC approximately $40,000. We have received generous financial donations of $17,500 from businesses and individuals who believe in West End Baptist Church and their community outreach. However, to keep it moving, we will need to order the doors, start the fence install, purchase the light fixtures and sinks. We need an additional $37,000 to complete the job. We will soon be at a standstill unless we raise more money soon. The hope is we can keep the project moving and feed those in need by summer.
